Smash TV show Review

Smash TV programme Advertisment

It’s clear to see that I am a huge fan of  campy television & once again my lust has been fulfilled.

Smash is the latest programme conspiring to keep me in the house & not out on the town.
Smash TV programme
The cast get their walk on!
Starring Debra Messing (Will & Grace), Brit Boy Jack Davenport (This Life, Pirates of the Caribbean) & the beyond awesome Angelica Houston the plot centres around the making of a new Broadway show about the life & loves of Marilyn Monroe.

The programme moves effortlessly between stage numbers, drama & the highs & lows producers/directors face when trying to raise money for a show, write songs & cast the inimitable Marilyn Monroe.

Ivy & Karen from Smash!
Ivy wins the Marilyn looky-likey contest
Vying for the covetous role is Ivy a trampy vampy showgirl who has been passed over way to many times for a leading role & the sweet innocent country girl Karen who has to decide how badly she wants the role.

The show features a mix of original songs & songs written specifically for the stage show. This is not what I would call a 'musical' as the characters do not break into song just to express themselves this is more of a drama which just happens to be set against a musical theatre background.

Smash was co-produced by Dreamworks & Steven Spielberg - this is no low budget show. If you liked Glee but found it a little too saccharine then check out Smash!

Smash is now showing on Sky Atlantic @ 10 pm on Saturdays from 22 April 2012
