Motel One Manchester Piccadilly Review

06:00

Last month I headed to Manchester for my cousin's birthday.

During the day we headed for a luxurious spa day and then in the night we heading to Iberica and Manchester House.

To get myself all gorgeous for the night out I checked into Motel One - one of Manchester's newest hotels which totally knocks the whole budget hotel thing on its head.

Motel One's are simply the most stylish budget hotels you have ever stayed in and they have won loads of awards for it - so its just not me who thinks so!

Great welcoming reception
The hotel is modern and stunning and the price was great.  Room rates are from just £69 per night but when I stayed it was £114 for a double/twin as it was a Saturday night.  I did check out other hotels & Travelodge wanted more money for the same night.

Err no, I'd rather spend my money at Motel One.

When I checked n the reception was really busy but there was literally no waiting time. The staff were friendly and efficient and helped me out with my travel arrangements for later on.

Arriving up to my room I was just so surprised at how nice it was despite seeing how gorgeous reception was. It was like I couldn't believe that a budget hotel could look anything other than budget.

Modern, stylish decor

The room was compact but not cramped & had everything you needed - shower, uber sexy white television, modern decor, coffee station and a hairdryer.

The room also had lots of power points which I loved. You might think this is strange but I always travel with so many things that need to be plugged in like iPhone, iPad, hair straighteners & tongs/curling wand. Man I need a lot of plug points and constantly having to unplug them so you can use the plug point is annoying.

After my rather drunken night I arrived back at the hotel and I cannot tell you how buzzing the reception/bar area was - not in a nightclub way but just full of nice people relaxing having a nightcap. I chilled out for about 20 minutes people watching and then made my way up to the room which of course was sound proofed - you couldn't hear a pin drop & off to sleep I went.

In the morning I zipped past the breakfast area to catch my train back to Wales. I was a little bit hungover  so didn't stop but the area was lively and buzzing. When I arrived at Motel One the afternoon before I was dropped off by my cousin so I had no idea exactly where the train station was. After walking past the breakfast area it was literally a 3 minute hungover walk!

Brilliant hotel and fantastically convenient.

Breakfast looked delish
So Motel One has a few hotels in the UK and a few in Europe. I'm normally a 4/5* kinda gal but after staying at Motel One I'm definitely going to check their website for hotels before I book anywhere else.

Which hotel chain do you normally stay with if you go out of town?

    1. Travelodges are okay, don't want anyone to think I'm knocking them but for the same price it's good to have a little luxury

    1. Yeah, you should pop in for a drink when you're in time or a cheeky one on the way back from the train station *hic*

  6. This definitely doesn't have a budget feel! Incredible that it was cheaper than the Travelodge. I must check Motel One out as we quite often stay over in Manchester.

  8. I've never heard of this chain of hotels but I love the sound of a nicer budget hotel as travelodge and holiday inns are just that, budget in every way x

    1. It's always nice to keep a little morsel tucked away - you never know when you might need it and for the price it's excellent.

  11. It looks really good for a budget hotel. I really like the twin duvets on a double bed, we had them in an Air B'n'b and almost liked it enough to convert at home. Especially as we run at different temperatures.

  14. I usually end up at a holiday in. But would love to stay somewhere different. I guess There just easy to find and quick to book so I don't bother shopping around for anywhere else.

    1. I agree but hopefully with a few more interesting chains out there people will notice them and then maybe the 'old' chains will up their design/luxe game?

  16. I usually pick independent small B&B. I know that chains have nicer rooms and more perks but I like to support small businesses.
