Whether you're just working up the courage to tart online dating or you've been already looking for love on online dating sites like BeNaughty for quite a while, there are some online dating rules that are helpful to understand.
Check out our list of online dating no-no's to avoid when looking for your perfect match online.
1. Don't Use A Fake Picture
One of the biggest online dating no-no's is using a fake picture. Isn't it just frustrating when your date looks nothing like his or her photos? Use a great picture that shows who you are and don't hide your face behind a hat or a pair of sunglasses. It makes people think you have something to hide.
2. Don't Use A Fake Name
Please, use your real name online, because nothing is a bigger turn-off than having Deathslayer27 send you a message, so show people who you really are right from the start. If you're scared of people seeing your full name, use your first and middle name instead of your first and last name.
3. Don't be Negative
Your online dating profile is all about what you like and want. If you speak aggressively about your past relationships, or things you hate to do, it’s a big turn-off. Everybody likes to be around happy and positive people
4. Don't Use Clichés
Don't write that you like "listening to music", "hanging out with my friend" and cosying up in front of the fire. Who doesn't? After all, you want someone to like you for who you are, so don't shy away from being unique and say something interesting about yourself.
5. Don't Reveal Too Much Skin
Don't post half-naked photo's all over your profile, because it is a bit strange, to say the least. So even if you have the fittest body ever (and especially, if you don't), just be a lady and put your clothes on. Keep it classy!
6. Let Things Play Out
Don't send everyone asking for a date right away. Show the person that you're interested in getting to know him or her first and let the date pan out naturally.
Meeting new people can be very difficult. Online dating can be an excellent way to get yourself back in the dating game. Just remember to yourself.
Hopefully, these tips will help you to find your perfect partner in no time!

ReplyDeleteThanks for dropping by - I'm glad you found the tips useful and I hope you never have to use them!
DeleteGreat tips. I tried online dating once and it was a lot of fun.
ReplyDeleteOnline dating is great fun but it sure is a minefield to navigate!
DeleteI have never used online dating, but have friends who have, I do know some success stories from online dating. I also have heard some very funny stories x
ReplyDeleteI am so glad I don't have to do the online dating thing (though I did meet my husband online, but it wasn't on a dating site). I am usually way too open at first, which my husband liked but is a turn-off for many people.
ReplyDeleteI have never used an online dating site but this looks like a good list!
ReplyDeleteI would not have a clue where to start with online dating.. Oddly I met my other half online. x
ReplyDeleteI think you have to protect yourself when joining dating sites and keep safe, but I met my hubbie online and we have been together 12 years now, good luck xx
ReplyDeleteThe thought of internet dating scares me, thankfully I'm not in the market for a new partner but I would be utterly petrified if I had to find someone over the internet as you hear so many horror stories about fake people.
ReplyDeleteDeathslayer27 xD These are great tips! I've never tried online dating myself, bar messing around with Tinder, but it is actually a really great way to meet people and it's a shame so many people create really fake profiles! It's only hindering their own search :/
ReplyDeleteI'm with my 'childhood sweetheart', so haven't had use for these sites but I totally love the point about not writing cliches. I love reading blog posts and people have put a quirky like that I have in common with them! Instantly want to friend them haha x
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't have a clue with online dating nowadays, I did dabble a little 6/7 years ago before I met my partner (which wasn't through online dating) but I only really set up the profile to make someone else jealous lol x
ReplyDeleteI wouldn't use a fake profile picture, nor would I speak to someone who doesn't have at least a few pictures of themselves.
ReplyDeleteI have never used a dating site personally but I do know of some success stories. It's important to stay say online but the dating world has adapted to the way society communicates these days. Great advice
ReplyDeleteGreat post. I am a fan of online dating - it's so hard to meet any decent guys these days, so I figure I may as well up my chances online :)
ReplyDeleteGreat tips lovely.
ReplyDeleteI found my other half on twitter lol but we had mutual friends too.
The world is so small you're bound to know someone that they do too which would prove they are a real person especially if you suspect a fake name or picture
Charlotte x
Some of my colleagues use online apps and it is so interesting to see how they work. I have never used them x
ReplyDeleteI have never tried online dating but the thought of people pretending to be someone they are not is worrying.
ReplyDeleteI have never done the whole online dating thing. But these seems like really sensible pieces of advice!
ReplyDeleteGreat tips - I haven't tried online dating but I think it seems like a good idea!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad that I met my husband 16 years ago, the thought of online dating scares me silly! These sound like sensible tips though
ReplyDeleteAaaaah! I am going on my first date tonight with a guy I have met through an online dating site! Luckily I did everything you suggest! Great post. Kaz x
ReplyDeleteOh I remember the days of Internet dating. My best friend met her husband through it, so it's great tips not to lie as you don't want to start anything based on lies!
ReplyDeleteInteresting post. I think it might be worth mentioning the dangers of online dating though!
ReplyDeleteI met this beautiful, caring, sassy, sexy lady through online dating. So happy!!! Peter, Cheltenham
