Summer has long gone and I was in desperate need of a bit of R & R so I jumped on easyjet & left behind cold Wales for 5 days and headed to Spain.
Arriving in Spain the weather was distinctly warmer than the UK about 22 degrees but very cold in the evening more shorts, t-shirts and cardi weather rather than bikini. It was lovely to have any sun as it was particularly cold in the UK when I left so the fact that it wasn’t blistering hot was not really an issue.

I've been to Spain a couple of time before - Marbs, Barcelona and also Madrid but never to the south coast, so this time I headed to a small fishing village just outside Almería called Villaricos.
Villaricos is a very nice small town but very very quiet in the winter. The town allegedly is busier and much hotter in the summer. There are a couple of busier towns nearby Garrucha, Mojacar (if you have a head for heights) & of course Almería.
This side of Spain is considered to be very 'Spanish' and not touristy which is fantastic for the authentic side of things but no chance of throwing shapes to a bit of Rhi Rhi & anyone under pension age might struggle with things to see or do.
So what did I get up to?
Well there was a lot of eating… so much I forget to take pictures of some of my meals but notable meals include Garrucha Prawns at Rincon Del Puerto, middle eastern food at Taberna Christina, nice meal at Goah & Paella at La Balsica Villaricos.
Keep it clean ladies! Ha! Ha! Ha! |

There was also a little bit of drinking – mainly vodka but I do love a bit of Cava and would of loved to have gone to a vineyard like the Freixenet vineyard just outside Barcelona.
Cava anytime over the dreaded Prosecco |
Ready to hit the driving range |
Joking aside playing golf was a lot of fun, I went to Valle del Este Resort & I had 10 minutes with a pro who gave me some great tips on how to improve my swing. I tried to book a lesson but funnily enough he was leaving the country and was not going to be available!! I would like to think this was entirely coincidental!
Overall visiting Villaricos & the neighbouring towns was a pleasant little break, I came back feeling refreshed, relaxed and ready for rain, rain and more rain in Wales!

Love your golf gear. Pretty in pink and I have always wanted to go to Spain and rather than the tourist traps or club destinations I am much more a fan of museums and exploring different cultures.
ReplyDeleteI love a good museum. Alas none last time but would definitely love to seek out one if I went back
DeleteAm very jealous about your trips to Spain, not so much about the golf but I just can not play it, I leave that to my husband (when his knee is better) and daughter. It sounds like a lovely area that you stayed in
ReplyDeleteIt was lovely and just what the doctor ordered.
DeleteI love your photos! Also, I have recently started enjoying golf so I liked that another blogger talked about. I worked at the Ryder Cup last year and got a few of the jumpers so you should check it out for any more golf chat :)
